Meet the Family

A painted cartoon family portrait of various multicellular organisms complete with studio lighting and classic brown mottled backdrop. In the back are two bluish balls of cells and a string of filastereans all with beady eyes and cute mouths. Flanked by a pair of green choanoflagellates with long lash-like purple tails, are a big happy sponge and a comb jellyfish with iridescent "combs" running up its pink, translucent body. They have their arms and tentacles on a trio of modern animal "kids." A white goose, a blue eyed, orange kitten, and a particularly surly goth lizard in black and white makeup and a skull t-shirt.

Description

Gathered for a family portrait (some not so willingly), a trio of relatively young modern animals are flanked by their older multicellular relatives. From sea sponges to comb jellyfish, we can trace our roots back through the evolutionary family tree back to when our unicellular ancestors first decided to start working together.
